Manifest Your Heart’s Deepest Desire


This week’s 7th Chakra practices invite us to introduce deep levels of physical, mental and emotional relaxation through Yoga Nidra. In order to manifest the most beneficial possible experience, a certain level of preparation can be very helpful. 

First, set up an area where you can be warm, comfortable and supported during guided meditation. In a yoga studio, we often combine blocks, blankets and bolsters to create a “nest” into which we can release. In your home, you might do something similar or consider a favorite chair or couch. Remember that the closer the association of the nest you choose to sleeping, the more likely it is that you will actually fall asleep during this relaxing practice. Fair warning.

Second, prepare to move and breathe. Before Yoga Nidra, we will offer some warm-ups (to prepare the body for rest) and some breathwork (to guide us inward). Bring a tissue.

Finally, attuning to your heart’s deepest desire in advance of and during Yoga Nidra creates a powerful and supportive connection between your practice and the life you lead off the mat. What do you want more than anything else in life? It might be something for yourself, for someone else or for the greater good of the world. It is important to affirm your deep desire as a statement of fact that is true in the present moment. Rather than “I need direction in my life,” consider “I am sure-footed on life’s path.”
